The Brendan Kennelly Summer Festival.
On the 9th of August this year, so you had better get your skates on otherwise you will miss it, Brendan Kennelly will be officially opening his inaugural Summer Festival in Ballylongford.
The Brendan Kennelly Summer Festival is regarded as one of Irelands most popular literary and cultural events, it will have a truly International appeal of the work of Brendan Kennelly and modern performing and visual arts. Poetry, workshops, theatre, music, dance, expeditions, historical walks and children’s events all feature.
It is an international celebration of the work of Brendan Kennelly, but also a celebration of modern performing and visual arts in Kerry.
As usual, all this year’s events will take place in the village itself and the programme will be packed with poetry, workshops, historical walks, theatre, music, dance, exhibitions, street spectacle, literary and children’s events.
One of the main events during the festival will be announcement of the winner of the Brendan Kennelly/Sunday Tribune poetry competition.
Entries are currently pouring in from budding poets all over Ireland and abroad.
